Maton46 Magazine

Maton46 Magazine

An issue that heritage brands face is how to celebrate the past without being overwhelmed by it. The magazine was a way to embrace our history and share it with players, but also to move that story forward. Issue 5 and beyond became a contemporary account of the business, players, new products, current issues and insights into the guitar building world.

The first 75 years

A timeline running through four issues

The first four issues tell the story of the first 75 years of Maton Guitars. With a timeline running through each issue we discover how the story unfolds over 75 years. The art direction of each issue shifted to reflect the part of the timeline we were covering.

The object

Five thousand copies, made collectible

As the print magazine was limited to 5,000 copies, we didn't hold back on the mechanicals — spot varnish, inserts, posters, everything a lover of print could ask for in a collectible piece.

The archive

Back issues, online

We then launched a website for access to back issues, historical archives and artist interviews.
